Fibrin and Serum as a Culture Medium
A technique is described by which a medium composed of fibrinogen suspension, serum, and embryo juice may be made. Fibroblasts grew in this medium about as well as in plasma and embryo juice. A strain of connective tissue in this medium remained practically as active as the control for several passages.
متن کاملLipoproteins as substitutes for serum in Mycoplasma culture medium.
Crude lipoprotein-containing fractions obtained from sera of three different animal species were tested, in combination with bovine serum in Mycoplasma pneumoniae culture medium. All sera yielded at least one lipoprotein-containing component which was considerably more effective in promoting mycoplasma growth than the unfractionated serum sample from which it was derived. The very low activity ...
متن کاملCulture of Lymphocytes and Hemopoietic Cells in Serum-Free Medium
Freshly explanted lymphocytes and hemopoietic cells can grow and differentiate to terminally functioning cells in culture. Such cultures provide an opportunity to study, in cells not previously subjected to in vitro selection, such phenomena as induction of growth in physiologically resting cells, immune recognition, and the function of specific polypeptide factors and cell surface receptors. T...
متن کاملPreparation of Proper Culture Medium for Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii with Molasses and Animal Serum
Introduction: The purpose of this study was formulation and preparation of a proper culture medium for Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii with molasses and animal serum. Methods: A fully-crossed factorial design contain 5%, 10% and 20% of molasses (M) with 0, 1% and 5% animal serum (S) was used in this study. The pH of all culture medias were adjusted to 5.6 with acetic acid. The seed was ...
متن کامل[Development of a serum-free medium and primary culture of human renal cell carcinomas by serum-free culture].
Ovomacroglobulin and LDL fraction of egg yolk were effective to maintain the growth of established human cancer cell lines (Kato III, QG-90, Raji). A serum-free medium (BEM-841) containing 10 mM HEPES, 50 micrograms/ml of ovomacroglobulin, 0.1% (V/V) of LDL fraction of egg yolk, 10(-8) M catalase, 5 micrograms/ml of insulin, 5 micrograms/ml of transferrin, 5 ng/ml of selenium, 1 mg/ml of BSA, a...
